Find Your Dancing Feet
Dance Your Way Back To The Real YouGive Me One Day And I’ll Change Your Life
This short introductory Salsa programme is designed to completely shift your beliefs around your dance abilty and potential.
So if you are the person who has convinced themselves they have no rhythm, two left feet and the coordination of a drunken windmill, then this may be for you.
Especially if you ALSO know that you wouldn’t enjoy learning to dance in a big group class with a bunch of strangers.
I’ve built my career on helping people with zero belief and confidence in their dancing potential when they first set foot in my studio.
The type of people who deep down consider themselves the most unlikely dancers – the ugly ducklings, the self-proclaimed uncoordinated, clumsy and uncool characters who are more likely to be found hiding in a corner as far from the dance floor as possible, or propping up the bar.
The people who have been told they have no talent for dancing and probably shouldn’t bother.
Why am I so Passionate About This?
Because this was me, 20 years ago, I wanted to help others find their dancing feet and experience the joy that Salsa has given me.
But if I hadn’t been as determined, I would never have got as far as I did.
A lot of the teaching I experienced was just ok…fine if you just wanted to learn a few moves and throw your partner around anyhow.
But if you wanted to reach a decent level fast, experience true connection and chemistry on the dance floor, and unlock the full spectrum of joy that Salsa has to offer, it just didn’t cut it.
The EXPERIENCE wasn’t great, it took AGES, and there were no guarantees…and most people dropped out in the first few weeks because they didn’t feel they were really getting anywhere.
It’s Not You Or Salsa That’s The Problem
I had a nagging suspicion throughout that it WASN’T just because Salsa is complex and difficult (it is!), or that these people just weren’t meant to be dancers…
Rather, the format, content and delivery of most group Salsa classes just wasn’t structured in a way that made it easy or likely for most people to succeed.
And it made people feel they had to be a perfect carbon copy of someone else, which often resulted in comparisonitis, body shame, and stress.
So I spent a lot of time figuring things out for myself, practicing and experiementing on my own to come up with a system which helped people feel good about being themselves whilst smoothing out the learning curve.
THIS is what made me the dancer and teacher I am today…and it enabled me to come up with my unique methodology.
But it took me nearly 25 years to get here.
So I’ve devoted my life to making the complexities of freestyle Salsa dancing much simpler to learn enabling you to build confidence quickly, providing a proven pathway to fun and freedom, so you can feel at home in your body and comfortable when moving to music.
What’s Stopping YOU?
There are three main roadblocks which stop most people from getting started:
- Lack of belief in your own dance ability and potential
- Feeling stressed by being too far out of your comfort zone
- Fear of failure, or judgement and criticism from others
My carefully designed coaching process is designed to detangle, defuse and de-activate all of the above scenarios at source.
So you can get out of your own way, out of your own head, and be fully present in a body which ALREADY KNOWS how to move to music.
This Is Not For Everyone
My programmes are NOT for the masses.
These are not standard group or private Salsa lessons.
I offer a vastly different approach which isn’t suitable for the vast majority of people…because after 10 years of teaching this dance, I know most people are not that interested in excellence – or invested enough to go after it.
You don’t need to believe you’re going to be brilliant – just be open to the possibilities outside of your current reality, and have the desire to explore them.

Mind, Body…and THEN Salsa
You’ll be amazed at how much can be accomplished in one day – without feeling like you’re being rushed through a conveyor belt or only scratching the surface.
I’ll be guiding you through my 8 principles which will start to reveal what’s really possible when you take a fully holistic approach to learning this dance.
My approach goes deep – the complete opposite to the purely physical approach taken by most Salsa teachers, and actually starts before you set foot in my studio.
Why?
Because unfortunately, learning dance steps and moves without doing the mind and body groundwork almost always results in the following:
- Creates an unnecessarily steep learning curve which increases likelihood of quitting
- Reinforces the false belief that you are not cut out for dancing
- Takes a lot longer to reach a modest level of competence.
- Places an artificial limit on how far you can progress
- Makes it difficult to lose the beginner-ish stiffness and stompiness.
- When you get serious, you’ll likely have to go back and re-learn the basics properly.
When you work on everything in a logical sequence and include your brain and body as part of the process, you’ll be amazed at what you can actually achieve in a very short space of time.
We will be spending around 4 hours together and here’s a rough idea of what the day’s itinerary will look like:
Who Is This For?
- You’ve never danced a step in your life – or if you have tried it didn’t go well.
- Something inside you is telling you’d like to dance
- You’re introverted, anxious or an over-thinker
- You are highly successful in some areas of life but feel socially awkward
- You’d like to feel more confident and charismatic at a core level
- You’d like to ditch the imposter syndrome and self doubt.
- You HATE the idea of turning up to a mainstream Salsa club.
- You want full focus on the quality of your learning experience.

“I was approaching 60 and wanted to salsa dance at my party. I had very low self-esteem and lacked confidence.
Shulagh was the first salsa teacher on Google. I liked what she wrote, that nobody has two left feet and no rhythm, as I identified myself exactly as that.
I was only going to do a 1 hour private lesson, but got hooked straight away. I signed up to Shulagh’s ladies’ styling course as she made me feel more confident.
Shulagh is so passionate and knowledgeable about salsa that it’s infectious, you can’t help but feel enthused. She is patient and tolerant, constantly reassuring you.
Besides what I’ve already said, I would describe Shulagh as an inspirational teacher. She makes you feel that you want to be the best you can.
Shulagh recognises that people respond to learning in a variety of ways, and she adapts her teaching style to suit. This ensures nobody gets left behind, all feeling part of the group – enabled.
I entered her world a timid, disempowered woman with low self-esteem, and left there feeling confident enough to attend clubs, on my own, not knowing any of the other attendees.
I’m not the best dancer, but I love salsa and will dance anywhere. Thank you, Shulagh x”
